PIECE OF MINE ARTS
PIECE OF MINE Arts presents multidisciplinary works created by artists of the African Diaspora, as well as youth programming that explores African Canadian narratives. Based in Toronto, Canada the company platforms bold pieces in development as well as complete works from performing and visual/media artists. We nurture opportunities for the growth and legacy of stories that revere and preserve culture.
I was moved beyond words, not only by the incredible performance but by the energy and support of the audience. There was such a sense of community...ahhh finally to see myself and my culture represented on the stage!"
I have spent many years running arts programming in the US, including 3 years at the Harlem School of the Arts, and I have to say that the work Piece of Mine produces is at a far higher of theatre I have experienced elsewhere.
The Negroes Are Congregating offers a refreshing perspective of what it means to be Black in today’s Canada
Shout out to Natasha Adiyana Morris and Amanda Nicholls from PIECE of MINE Festival who gave me a chance when NOBODY ELSE would. I repeat: nobody else would. Adiyana and Amanda took a chance and programmed my plays MADE IN CONGO and BALCONIES ARE MADE FOR DREAMING in 2013 and in 2016 . . . That's a sign of boldness, trust and confidence in emerging artists.
